Letter: Parnell wants to give away future

Published: January 22, 2013

Here we have the State of Alaska — the richest state in the Union — that can’t afford to keep class sizes down, can’t deliver the services that all students need to succeed and can’t retain its best teachers. The governor and his legislative henchmen are bound and determined to give those education dollars to oil billionaires. They’ll probably excuse themselves as they mumble something about efficiency, but pledge that they really do support education.

With the $2 billion that Parnell has tried to give away (for years now), we could provide an extra $1,000 of education support for every child in our schools and still have over $2,500 for every Alaskan.

The future, that is what they are trying to give away.
