Letter: Car owner shares responsibility

Published: January 24, 2013

Why is it legal to own a vehicle with a revoked license? If the behavior is egregious enough to trigger revocation, clearly just telling someone they are not allowed to drive won’t inspire them to follow the rules. Make it the responsibility of a second party as well.

Driving with a revoked license should automatically result in either a charge of abetting against the vehicle owner (with vehicle forfeiture) or, alternatively, of vehicle theft against the driver with the help of the owner’s testimony.

Let’s reduce the mayhem on our roads!
