When I read in the ADN that the Department of Natural Resources had arbitrarily removed the word “conserve” from its mission statement, I suspected that nefarious doings were in the works. And so it starts: “Parnell wants state to handle dredge and fill permitting,” ADN, Jan. 19. Be prepared to accept that our environment and wildlife will become collateral damage to greed. Oh, excuse me, to “allow for responsible resource development.” Really?
