Gomez debuts for Sharks (plus, yo, Niva's 40!)

Published: January 26, 2013

As expected, veteran center Scott Gomez of Anchorage is making his San Jose Sharks debut as this is written, playing in today's matinee against the Colorado Avalanche at HP Pavilion in California.

Looks like he's playing on a line with Adam Burish and Andrew Desjardins. (UPDATE: In a 4-0 Sharks win, Gomez logged 15:03 of ice time -- including 5:06 of power-play duty -- and was +1 with three shots on goal. He won five of 10 draws. Patrick Marleau scored two goals for the fourth consecutive game to start the season. He's seriously out of control).

And speaking of cats from Airport Heights, like Gomez, it's my boy Josh Niva's 40th. Big party tonight, so I expect he'll be dancing the night away with a full Yakupov.
