Matsunami, Peterson shine for UAA gymnastics team

Matsunami, Peterson lead UAA gymnasts

M'rcy Matsunami and Emily Peterson delivered victories for UAA in three of the four events in a Saturday gymnastics duel with Seattle Pacific at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex.

Matsunami won the vault with a score of 9.825, Peterson won the balance beam with a 9.825, and the two shared the uneven parallel bars title by posting identical scores of 9.8.

Seattle Pacific dominated the floor exercise, with Stephanie Wagner's 9.725 leading a 1-2-3 finish for the Falcons.

SPU took the team title with 192.225 points to UAA's 191.2, avenging a Friday loss to the Seawolves.

Matsunami took all-around honors with 38.75 points.
