Avs' Landeskog out for Monday

Published: January 28, 2013

Reigning Calder Trophy recipient Gabriel Landeskog will miss the Colorado Avalanche's matchup at Edmonton on Monday due to injuries to his head and leg.

Landeskog was hurt on a check by San Jose defenseman Brad Stuart during Saturday's 4-0 loss to the Sharks, though the Colorado captain did return to the contest after sitting out a portion of the first period.

The 20-year-old Swede, the No. 2 overall selection of the 2011 draft, was named the NHL's top rookie following a terrific 2011-12 season in which he amassed 20 goals and 30 points while producing a plus-20 rating.

Landeskog had managed just one goal over Colorado's first four games of this season, but was a plus-three over that stretch.
