Former Nanook goaltender Johnson racks his 1st NHL shutout

Published: January 28, 2013

Tonight was three days shy of three years since former UAF goaltender Chad Johnson earned an NHL start -- um, no rust, all he did was deliver the Phoenix Coyotes a 21-save performance in a 4-0 win over visiting Nashville that marked his first NHL shutout.

That's Johnson's second NHL win. His previous six NHL appearances came for the New York Rangers.

Johnson had not appeared in an NHL game since March 31, 2011, when he did some back-up work. Tonight's start was his first in the world's best league since Jan. 31, 2010.

Well done.
