Aces get boost with Lafranchise's return from AHL

Posted on January 31, 2013

The Alaska Aces, who open a two-game road trip in Las Vegas on Friday, will get a big boost to their lineup with the return of defenseman Kane Lafranchise from Oklahoma City of the AHL.

Lafranchise, loaned to the Edmonton Oilers' affiliate for the last month, still leads Aces blueliners in scoring with 4-17--21 totals in 30 games. He was +10 in that span.

Lafranchise, the former UAA D-man, played nine games for the AHL Barons and was -10.

His return should strengthen the Aces in all situations. He plays on the first power-play unit, kills penalties and is on the ice in pretty much every critical situation.

The Aces still have one defenseman up in the AHL -- Corey Syvret remains with the Toronto Marlies, where he has played five games and earned a +2 rating.
