Vikings RB Peterson voted top offensive player

Published: February 2, 2013

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson was honored Saturday as the NFL's top offensive player, as voted by the Associated Press.

Peterson, who recovered from tearing the anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments in his left knee near the end of the 2011 season, fell just short of the league's all-time, single-season rushing record in 2012. Peterson ran for 2,097 yards, which was eight shy of Eric Dickerson's record set in 1984.

Peterson also had 12 rushing touchdowns and a receiving score and helped the Vikings into the playoffs.
