Anchorage School Board member Gretchen Guess has resigned from her position, the Anchorage School District said Tuesday. She is moving from Alaska for a job in Jacksonville, Fla.

Guess served on the board for two years and is a former board president. Before that, she was a state legislator who represented northeast Anchorage. She currently works as the director of business development at Providence Health & Services Alaska. She will become the ambulatory care service line director at St. Vincent's HealthCare in Fla, according to the district release.

Guess was not up for re-election until spring 2014. The board will appoint her replacement by April 1.

The district will accept applications to replace Guess March 5-19. On March 30, the board will hold a special meeting to fill the vacancy.
