Letter: Mayor should work harder, not go after city’s working families

Published: February 14, 2013

So Mayor Dan isn’t happy with existing union contracts, and he doesn’t think much of his team’s ability to effectively negotiate future contracts, so he’s trying to change the rules, take his ball and go home. Why doesn’t he find better negotiators? Why doesn’t he spend time trying to make his team more effective under existing ordinance? He complains about employers being unable to remove ineffective employees because of union rules, yet he keeps his apparently ineffective bargaining team?

Is the job of Mayor simply too hard for Mayor Dan?  Why is he going after Anchorage’s working families instead of working harder himself?
