UAF's Odegard again a finalist for Hockey Humanitarian Award

Posted on February 19, 2013

UAF senior defenseman Kaare Odegard for the second straight year has been named one of five finalists for the Hockey Humanitarian Award.

Odegard helped develop the "All With Your Heart'' campaign to raise funds for the Harry and Sally Porter Heart Center at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, and among his other off-ice activities has helped with Nooks for Books, Special Olympics and the Alaska Senior Games.

The business finance major from Red Deer, Alberta, was a finalist last year.

Alaska connections have won the Hockey Humanitarian three times. Rocky Reeves (Buffalo State) of Anchorage won it in 2002, Sarah Carlson (Boston College) won it in 2005 and former Alaska Aces center Ethan Cox (Colgate) won it in 2010.
