I pirouette the line

Alaska Dance Theatre will collaborate with Nashville stalwart Jamie Hartford and his band, joined by Alaska vocalist Melissa Mitchell, in a program that combines contemporary professional dance with country classics. "Cash & Cline" will feature choreographer Gillmer Duran's settings of hits like "I Fall to Pieces," "I Walk the Line," "Crazy" and "Folsom Prison Blues." Tickets, available at centertix.net, are $9-$25 for the shows at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the Discovery Theatre. World premiere on Saturday

When is a cello not a cello? When it's the amped-up solo instrument in the new concerto by Avner Dorman, to be debuted during the Anchorage Symphony Orchestra concert at 8 p.m. Saturday in Atwood Concert Hall. Dorman's "Spices! Perfumes! Toxins!" received an enthusiastic ovation from the crowd when performed here by the percussion duo PercaDu in 2009. There's a percussive feel to the new concerto too. Inbal Segev will solo in the world premiere of the work that the composer likens to "heavy metal" and which is already scheduled for several performances in North and South America after it debuts here. Double-blast of 'Cannonball'

Mercy, mercy, mercy! The next installment in the "Tribute to the Masters of Jazz" series will celebrate the exquisite compositions of Nat and Julian "Cannonball" Adderley. You get two shots at catching the concert, 4 p.m. Sunday at the UAA Arts Building recital hall and 8 p.m. Thursday

at Tap Root. Sax man Rick Zelinsky and trumpeter Pat Owens will channel the Adderleys with assistance from Nick Petumenos on guitar, Tom Bargelski on piano, Ray Booker on bass and Brandon Cockburn on drums.
