Aces defenseman Crum is done for the weekend with 2-game suspension

Posted on February 23, 2013

The major boarding penalty Alaska Aces defenseman was assessed for his hit on Las Vegas Wranglers center Geoff Paukovich late in Friday's 3-1 Aces win came with more baggage today.

The ECHL suspended Crum for two games -- and fined him the usual "undisclosed amount'' -- for the infraction. That means Crum cannot play in tonight's rematch of Sunday afternoon's series finale.

The Aces are already without rookie defenseman William Wrenn, who is up in the AHL with the Texas Stars, and veteran defenseman Sean Curry, who has missed two games since taking a hit earlier this week in Utah.

If Curry is not available, the Aces will be down to five defensemen, which is what they played with Wednesday in a 6-1 win in Utah. Aces coach Rob Murray said forward Alex Hudson has practiced some on defense, so maybe he'll take a few shifts. But five defensemen isn't a crisis. Just four? Now that would be a crisis.
