— With the Cook Inlet Conference regular season coming to a close Thursday, first place has already been locked up for both the boys and girls.

The first-place Service boys are 12-1 in the CIC and will host Bartlett (3-10) in their season finale. The first-place Dimond girls are 14-0, having completed regular season play with a 65-12 win over Service (0-13) on Tuesday. The Chugiak girls, who finished 4-10, are the only other team to have completed regular-season play.

All eight Anchorage schools will do battle in next week's CIC tournament at West High, where a game-selection ceremony will take place Friday at 4:30 p.m. Top seeds will choose the day and time of their first-round game, selecting a 5:30 or 7 p.m. start time March 4-7. A coin flip will determine whether the Service boys or Dimond girls get the first selection.

The top two teams from the CIC tournament earn automatic berths in the Class 4A state tournament at Sullivan Arena on March 21-23.
