UAA's Kwas, Coldwell to miss Governor's Cup with injuries

Posted on February 28, 2013

UAA will be without two regulars this weekend when it plays the two-game Governor's Cup against rival UAF.

Junior winger Jordan Kwas, the club's second-leading goal scorer and point producer with 9-11--20 totals in 29 games, is out with a sprained ankle. He apparently suffered that injury in OT of the Seawolves' last game, a 6-5 OT loss to Nebraska-Omaha on Feb. 16.

Also out is sophomore defenseman Austin Coldwell, who has a sprained knee and already has missed a couple games. Coldwell owns 2-3--5 totals in 27 games. Also, his -3 rating is the best among Seawolves defensemen.

UAA and UAF open the Cup on Friday night in Fairbanks, then head to Anchorage for Game 2 on Saturday at Sullivan Arena.

UAF has won three consecutive Cups. UAA won the three before that. And UAF won the five before that. Overall, UAF leads 11-8 in Cup history.
