Here's your jaw-dropping stat of the night from Mankato-CC

Posted on March 2, 2013

Cruising around the old series of tubes tonight, The Blog came across one scoring summary he just had to share.

Minnesota State-Mankato racked a 7-2 win at Colorado College tonight and enjoyed 13 power plays -- NO, THAT IS NOT A TYPO -- in the victory. The Mavericks cashed in four times with the man advantage.

And that may not even be the stat of the game from that match. Colorado College was penalized for three major penalties in the game -- one for contact to the head, another from grasping the face mask and yet another for checking from behind. Call it a hat trick of hurt.

Naturally, there were Alaska connections. Mavericks freshman goaltender Stephon Williams of Fairbanks made 26 saves to improve to 18-8-2. His 1.82 goals-against average ranks sixth in Division I. His .930 save percentage ranks 14th. And his four shutouts tie him for fourth nationally.

Forwards William Rapuzzi and Hunter Fejes of Anchorage played for CC, as did forward Jared Hanson of Palmer.
