Former UAA winger Sean Wiles continues to tear it up for ECHL Las Vegas.
Wiles racked two goals and a helper today in a 6-2 win over the San Francisco Bulls, and in the last 18 games he has delivered 13-7--20 totals, with a +10 rating and 63 shots on goal.
Today's performance gives Wiles season totals of 23-12--35 and +2 in 55 games.
One other ECHL note, which really doesn't have an Alaska connection -- well, unless you count that Trenton's Stephen Schultz played at Sullivan Arena when he was in college with Colorado College.
In any event, Schultz furnished a hat trick today in a 5-4 OT win at Toledo, bagging the game-tying and game-winning goals. In his last eight games, he has a four-goal game (all on the power play, tying a league record), two hat tricks and a two-goal game for 13-4--17 totals in that span.
Meanwhile, in the AHL, erstwhile Alaska Aces defenseman Corey Syvret played for the Toronto Marlies in a 2-1 shootout win over Binghamton. Still, since his promotion last month, Syvret has played in just nine of the Marlies' 20 matches -- he has yet to register a point, but owns an even rating and 10 shots on goal.
Binghamton's goaltender was former UAA backstop Nathan Lawson, who has largely been a victim of a goaltending glut on that club. Today, he made 27 saves. He's 4-2-1 with a 2.43 goals-against average and .932 save percentage, so he's been strong when he has been between the pipes.
