Letter: The people spoke — and now Legislature gets to ignore them

Published: March 7, 2013

In Letters, Feb. 26, referring to the proposed voucher system, Andrea Lang asked, “Who are these legislators who ignore the will of the people they work for?” That’s the question that can be asked when referring to the cruise ship wastewater management bill also.

Alaskans worked hard and jumped through all the hoops to pass a law to help protect the ocean. So, in spite of compelling testimony against it, the new Legislature gets to negate the people’s law. And the Alaska people they work for can “like it and lump it”?  There is something wrong with this picture.
