UAF stays alive with 4-1 win over Michigan State

Published: March 9, 2013

UAF prolonged its season tonight and forced a decisive Game 3 of a first-round CCHA playoff series with a 4-1 win over Michigan State, which won Friday's opener 2-1 in OT.

The Nanooks and Spartans will close the series Sunday at the Carlson Center in Fairbanks.

John Keeney stopped 32 shots for UAF, surrendering only a third-period goal to sophomore Tanner Sorenson of Anchorage, whose 13th goal ties him for the Michigan State lead.

Scoring for UAF were Cody Kunyk, Jarret Granberg, Andy Taranto (his team-leading 15th) and Nolan Huysmans. Defenseman Colton Parayko delivered three helpers.

In other CCHA first-round series, Michigan beat Northern Michigan 6-2 to sweep that series and Bowling Green racked a 6-3 victory at Lake Superior that sends that series to a decisive game Sunday.
