Recap: St. Louis vs. NY Mets

Jordany Valdespin plated the go-ahead run in the eighth inning and the New York pitching staff only allowed three hits as the Mets blanked the St. Louis Cardinals, 3-0, in spring training play on Sunday.

Jamie Hoffmann added a two-run double in the ninth and Shaun Marcum surrendered just one hit over the first 3 2/3 innings. Jeurys Familia tossed a 1-2-3 seventh to earn the win and Carlos Torres picked up the save.

Kolten Wong, Shane Robinson and Rob Johnson had the only hits for the Cardinals, who received five shutout innings from starter Jamie Garcia. He allowed four hits with two walks and struck out one.
