Ex-UAA winger Grant to ECHL; Nanooks get CCHA honors

Posted on March 11, 2013

Former UAA winger Tommy Grant is headed to the ECHL for the first time in his two-season pro career.

The San Jose Sharks (they acquired Grant in a trade with the Rangers this season) have assigned Grant to ECHL San Francisco from AHL Worcester. He should arrive in time to play Wednesday at Stockton.

Grant's 114 regular-season games and 14 playoff games of pro experience have all come in the AHL, where this season, in 48 combined games for Connecticut and Worcester he earned 10-9--19 totals in 48 games. (Last season, in 72 games for Worcester, he went 11-12--23). Grant as a senior at UAA in 2010-11 dropped 16-16--32 totals in 37 games.

In the college ranks, UAA freshman Tyler Morley (10-11--21 in 37 games) made the CCHA's All-Rookie team. Teammates John Keeney, a goaltender who went 13-11-3 and a 2-33 goals-against average and .909 save percentage, and defenseman Colton Parayako (4-13--17 in 33 games) were honorable mention.
