Hall: Action on mayor's labor-law rewrite may be delayed to March 26

Published: March 11, 2013

Anchorage Assembly Chairman Ernie Hall said Monday night that action on Mayor Dan Sullivan's rewrite of city labor law may be postponed from Tuesday to March 26.

Hall announced at the start of a public hearing on the proposal Monday that at Tuesday's meeting, there would be a move to delay action.

The controversial proposal would take away city unions' right to strike or have binding arbitration. It calls for benefits such as health care to be standardized across the eight city unions. And it set limits on annual raises. It would also set up rules for outsourcing work now done by city employees to private companies.
