Aces will give Imbeault time to heal this week

Alaska Aces winger Alexandre Imbeault, their third-leading scorer with 17-27--44 totals in 56 games this season, has missed six of the last 10 games with some back issues.

In that stretch, he missed four games, played three games, then missed a game, then played a game, then missed another game.

Rather than go through more of that, coach Rob Murray said the club will hold Imbeault out of the lineup for the three-game series that opens Wednesday against the Idaho Steelheads at Sullivan Arena.

The hope is that extended rest and treatment will heal and refresh Imbeault as the Aces prepare for the postseason.

Remember, he can be a difference-maker. His postseason for the Aces in 2009, when they went to Game 7 of the Kelly Cup, was the best extended stretch The Blog has seen from Imbeault -- he was energized, he made plays, he absorbed hits to make plays and he delivered hits, and he delivered points.

Imbeault put up 7-12--19 totals in 20 playoff games that season. That put him fourth on the club in playoff points behind Josh Soares (10-18--28 in 21 games), Colin Hemingway (9-16--25 in 21 games) and Cam Keith (3-17--20 in 20 games), and Imbeault's three power-play goals tied for the team lead.
