Incoming UAA recruit Brent Baltus earlier this week was revealed as MVP of the British Columbia Hockey League's Interior Conference in a "survey'' -- whatever that means? -- of league coaches.
In any event, Baltus, 20, led the Trail Smoke Eaters in scoring, and finished 22nd in the league, with 24-27--51 totals in 47 games.
Interesting the Baltus, a 6-1, 185-pounder, won the award despite finishing a ways down the scoring list and despite Trail being just one of four teams in the 16-team league that did not qualify for the playoffs.
But good for him. Well done. And we'll see him in the fall.
