Wolves win four

Eagle River bagged four victories Friday in a track and field meet called The Scramble, an unofficial indoor meet at The Dome that kicked off the season for athletes from 12 schools.

The Wolves swept the girls and boys long jump, one of Friday's three events. Scout Warners topped the girls at 14 feet, 11 inches and Brandon Parish bested the boys at 18-02.75. Eagle River's Kaitlyn Mondl added a win in the girls 3,200-meter run in 11 minutes, 19.8 seconds, and the Wolves' Ed Hall was best in the boys discus with a throw of 132 feet.

West's Pauline Tufi turned in a big win in the girls discus, reaching 104 feet, nearly 12 feet better than the nearest competitor. Kenai's Jordan Theisen was fastest in the boys 3,200, clocking 10:28.9.

The two-day meet concludes with four more events Saturday. Recorded times and distances will not count regional qualification.
