Recap: Boston vs. Baltimore

Danny Valencia hit a tie-breaking solo homer in the top of the ninth inning as the Baltimore Orioles beat the Boston Red Sox, 8-7, in spring training action.

Trayvon Robinson also had a solo homer and Ryan Flaherty had two RBI for the Orioles. Brian Roberts, Nate McLouth and Yamaico Navarro drove in a run apiece in the victory.

Baltimore starter Brian Matusz allowed one run on six hits over five innings.

Jonathan Diaz drove in two runs for the Red Sox, who recorded 16 hits. Mike Napoli, Mike Carp, Jackie Bradley, Mauro Gomez and Jeremy Hazelbaker each drove in a run in the setback.

Ryan Dempster got the start for Boston and allowed three runs on six hits in five innings.
