Redskins retain OT Polumbus

Published: March 19, 2013

The Washington Redskins re-signed Tyler Polumbus, the team's starting right tackle this past season, to an undisclosed contract Tuesday.

Polumbus made a career-high 15 starts during the 2012 regular season in addition to opening the Redskins' loss to Seattle in the Wild Card round of the NFC Playoffs, helping Washington finish atop the NFL in rushing yards while protecting eventual Offensive Rookie of the Year Robert Griffin III.

The former undrafted free agent owns 34 career starts over five pro seasons with Denver, Seattle and the Redskins. Polumbus joined Washington in November of the 2011 season after being placed on waivers by the Seahawks.

Polumbus is expected to compete with recent free-agent additions Tony Pashos and Jeremy Trueblood for the regular right tackle job this season.
