Former UAA winger Wiles gets first AHL gig; Leinweber re-ups in Scotland

Published: March 21, 2013

Congrats go to former UAA winger Sean Wiles, who has received his first promotion to the American Hockey League -- the ECHL's Las Vegas Wranglers loaned him to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

That's admirable ladder-climbing for a guy who was barely recruited out of junior, got off to a slow start in college, developed along the way, and in his second year as a pro -- and that included considerable time in the CHL last season -- has blossomed into a 25-goal scorer.

Wiles owns 25-12--37 totals in 59 games with the Wranglers.

In other news of former Seawolves, Curtis Leinweber has agreed to a deal to return to the Edinburgh Capitals in the Great Britain-based EIHL next season.

Leinweber rocked 17-28--45 totals in 33 games as a rookie after going across the pond part-way through the season. One of his UAA teammates, rookie winger Jade Portwood, owns 10-15--25 totals in 29 games with Edinburgh.
