Wine of the week: 2011 Moninore Borealis: The Northern Whites

Published: March 21, 2013

We are preparing for summer at our house. Freshly planted seeds are sprouting in their little greenhouse, while I'm looking for summer whites. A must-have is Montinore Estate's (now check this out) Borealis: The Northern Whites. A very cool blend of 38 percent riesling, 24 percent Muller-Thurgau, 23 percent pinot grigio and 15 percent gewurztraminer, this wine will surprise you! It's not ooey gooey sweet, even with all that riesling. It has a solid, white fruit citrus core with melon-mineral undertones and plenty of acids finishing things off. Costs about $15.
