Nate Thompson gets new four-year deal with Tampa Bay

Center Nate Thompson of Anchorage has agreed to a new four-year deal with the Tampa Bay Lightning, the NHL team has announced.

Both TSN and ESPN report the deal is worth $6.4 million, which averages out to $1.6 million per year for the 28-year-old who played for the Alaska Aces during the lockout.

Thompson, a checking-line center with 6-4--10 totals in 30 games before today's match against Ottawa, makes a pro-rated $850,000 this season, according to

He is teammates in Tampa Bay with defenseman Matt Carle of Anchorage, who last summer signed a six-year, $33 million free-agent deal with the Lightning.
