Notre Dame, which includes goaltender Steve Summerhays and winger Austin Wuthrich, both of Anchorage, advanced to Sunday's CCHA championship game with today's 3-1 semifinal win over Ohio State in Detroit.

The Irish overwhelmed the Buckeyes in shots, 44-17.

Summerhays made 16 saves. Wuthrich had two shots and was -1. Notre Dame on Sunday will play the winner of today's other semifinal pitting Michigan against regular-season league champ Miami (Ohio).

Also in the CCHA, UAF senior captain Adam Henderson, who already has his finance degree and owns a 3.86 GPA in his classes for a masters degree in business, was named the CCHA's Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Also, UAF senior Kaare Odegard shared the league's Humanitarian Award for off-ice contributions to the community with Western Michigan's Brett Beebe.
