Carolina puts Wallace on waivers

The NHL's Carolina Hurricanes today put right wing Tim Wallace on waivers -- if he clears waivers after 24 hours, he likely will be headed to AHL Charlotte.

In 21 games with Carolina, Wallace, 28, had one goal and a -7 rating.

In 43 games with Charlotte this season, he owns 9-11--20 and +3 ratings. In his last nine games with the Checkers, pretty much all of January, Wallace earned 4-7--11 totals and a +8 rating.

He's the second Alaskan to hit waivers this month. The Washington Capitals put right wing Joey Crabb of Anchorage on waivers recently. Crabb cleared and was assigned to AHL Hersey.
