Junior Susan Bick and sophomore Grace Morgan highlighted the conclusion of the Stanford Invitational for the UAA track and field team Saturday in Palo Alto, Calif.

Bick, a Bartlett High graduate, posted a provisional NCAA qualifying time with a season-best 2 minutes, 12.47 seconds in the women's 800 meters at the Cobb Track & Angell Field. Bick is currently ranked fifth in the event in Division II.

Morgan also turned in a personal season best, clocking 25.09 in the women's 200 meters to lead the Seawolves in the event. She finished 25th in the event, which was primarily against Division I competition.

UAA will next compete in the Mt. SAC Relays on April 18-19.

BOYS SOCCER

Chugiak 5, Bartlett 1

Nikolas Macalino deposited two goals Saturday to lead the Chugiak boys soccer team to a 5-1 win over Bartlett in a Cook Inlet Conference match at The Dome.

Macalino scored the match's first two goals and Dylan Timberlake added another to give the Mustangs a 3-0 lead at halftime.

Daniel Ogden and Coleman Levy each tacked on second-half goals for Chugiak (1-2-0).

Bartlett fell to 0-3-0.

Dimond 6, East 0

Jack Sedor's hat trick propelled the Dimond boys soccer team to a 6-0 win over East in a CIC match at The Dome on Saturday.

Dimond's Matt Cerveny struck for a pair of goals and Matt Froehlich tacked on another.

In other CIC boys soccer action, South dropped Eagle River 3-0, and West downed Service 2-1.

GIRLS SOCCER

Eagle River 2, South 1

The Eagle River girls edged South 2-1 Saturday in a Cook Inlet Conference soccer match at The Dome.

The Wolves benefitted from strong play by seniors Elexa Walker, Elana Williams, Gabriella Mordini and Chris Bottini, first year coach Trent Boggs said.

Shayna Wolery scored first for the Wolves, getting an assist from Williams midway through the first half, and Walker notched Eagle River's second goal about five minutes later when she redirected a corner kick with a header.

Eagle River goalie Tara Fisher produced 10 saves.

Service 4, West 0

A pair of goals from Haleigh Van Allen and a shutout by goalie Tristyn Bailey highlighted a 4-0 CIC girls soccer win for Service at The Dome against West on Saturday.

Van Allen opened scoring in the second minute and Kerianne Hansen put Service up 2-0 just before halftime. Van Allen struck for her second score early in the second half and Madasin Jennings tacked on the last goal to help push Service's record to 2-0-1 and drop West to 1-2-0.

Dimond 5, East 0

Powered by an Aaliyah Lewis hat trick, the Dimond girls soccer team rolled to a 5-0 CIC win over East at The Dome on Saturday.

Ariela Lewis provided assists on two of Aaliyah's goals. Bobby Pendleton and Malia Lyken each scored for the Lynx, with goalies Katelyn Sweeney and Ruth Ann Lomu combining for a shutout.

PREP TRACK AND FIELD

Rohde lifts Chugiak

Tyler Rohde won a pair of individual events Saturday to help the Chugiak boys track and field team earn a win at the Anchorage School District 8x8 meet at The Dome, where Jenette Northey and Olivia Lewis each notched two individual wins to lead the Service girls to victory.

The Chugiak boys dominated, topping runners-up Eagle River and Bartlett by more than 30 points in a meet that featured athletes from the eight Cook Inlet Conference schools competing in 10 events. Service won the girls meet by just three points over Eagle River and West, which tied for second.

Rohde won the boys 200 meters in 22.66 seconds and the 110-meter hurdles in 14.87. Rohde, who owns the 110-meter hurdles state record of 14.61 after posting it in last season's state meet, found some serious competition in Bartlett's Taj Showalter. Rohde edged Showalter (14.89) by just .2 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles and finished second to Showalter in the 300-meter hurdles.

Rohde also anchored Chugiak's winning 4x200-meter relay team Saturday, and the Mustangs got another individual win from Chris Kveseth in the 400.

Bartlett's Thomas Dolan was another two-event winner from the boys meet, taking the 800 in 2:04.03 and the 1,600 in 4:33.03.

Northey's wins also came in the 800 and 1,600. She clocked 2:25.69 to win the 800 by more than two seconds and finished the 1,600 in 5:13.70 for a winning margin of nearly 30 seconds. Lewis did damage in the two shortest races, taking the 100 meters in 13.30 and the 200 in 27.00.
