• Encore Entrepreneur Mentor Days, 10 a.m.-noon, U.S. Small Business Administration, 420 L St. The U.S. Small Business Administration and AARP are joining forces to provide Americans over the age of 50 with the real-world, actionable information they need to start and grow businesses. This entrepreneurship training is the toolkit that will empower you to use your experience, knowledge and skills to become job creators. • Alaska Apple Users Group meeting, 7-9 p.m., BP Energy Center, 900 E. Benson Blvd. The April meeting features a presentation on Geographic Information Systems by Terri Morganson. • Business Planning 101, 5-9 p.m. every Wednesday in April, YWCA's Women's Economic Empowerment Center, 324 E. Fifth Ave. This four-week course takes students through the entire process of developing and planning a start-up business. Topics include business basics, market analysis, marketing strategy, basic numbers, cash and taxes. • Chugiak-Eagle River Chamber lunch forum, noon-1 p.m., Eagle River Ale House, 11901 Old Glenn Highway. The guest speaker will be Bruce Tangeman, deputy commissioner for the Department of Revenue, and the topic will be Gov. Parnell's oil tax proposal. $3-$16. (694-4702, cer.org)

• The Resource Development Council will hear a presentation, "Alaska Seafood Market Trends and Opportunities" by Tyson Fick, director of communications, Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute. COMING UP

• Anchorage Chamber of Commerce: Chris Rose, executive director and founder of Renewable Energy Alaska Project, will discuss what projects are currently in the works to alleviate natural gas reliance in Alaska. He'll also give details on the future of renewable energy development. The event is set for 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. April 8 at the Dena'ina Convention Center. RSVP online or by phone by 5 p.m. Friday.
