Wine of the week: 2011 Picket Fence Russian River Pinot Noir

April 11, 2013

Half the battle in writing this column is finding stuff that's worthy. I get so excited when I taste one that fits, so hooray for the 2011 Picket Fence Russian River Pinot Noir! Clear red colors and beautiful strawberry-vanilla spice greet the eye and nose. The tender Bing cherry is supple and spicy on the palate, and its perfectly balanced acids lift the fruits and provide a superior backdrop for food. A great value if ever there was one. Serve with good friends. Costs about $18.
