Anchorage — With two thirds of the NCAA Division II championship calendar completed, UAA is ranked 12th in the Learfield Sports Director's Cup standings, released Thursday by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics.
The Seawolves, who are in the top four percent of all Division II schools, were ranked 17th after the fall championship season, but have climbed the ranks with completion of the winter championship season due mostly to top-15 finishes from their men's and women's indoor track and field teams at the NCAA Championships in February.
This marks the fourth straight season the Seawolves are ranked in the top 20 following the winter championship season. Their best finish in the Director's Cup came last season, when UAA finished 16th.
Rankings, which are based on points awarded for performance in up to 14 sports, will be finalized in June.
