Alaska State Troopers arrested a Chitina man after he allegedly shot at another man's pickup while driving.

Troopers said in a written statement posted online that William Nelson, 25, fired a handgun Wednesday afternoon at another man as the man drove past Nelson on the Edgerton Highway. The highway runs alongside the Copper River and connects Chitina to the Richardson Highway.

The bullet from Nelson's handgun hit the tailgate on the other man's pickup, troopers said. Nelson's 5-year-old son was in his vehicle at the time, troopers said. There were no injuries reported in the incident.

Troopers did not have a motive for the gunfire.

According to court records, Nelson faces a felony assault charge and a misdemeanor reckless endangerment charge.
