Former Alaskan's new group releases EP

Posted by Matt Sullivan on April 24, 2013

— Earlier this month, the Los Angeles-based duo Memoir released their debut self-titled EP. The songwriting pair of Dena Deadly and Zed Kelley have put together a four-song set of contemporary R&B and neo-soul that's in stark contrast with Kelley's old band, Shift, the Anchorage metal that also featured future members of Kallahan.

After studying bassoon and jazz guitar in Connecticut, Kelley ended up in Los Angeles in 2002 to produce music for video games and later film and TV. Memoir is a collaboration with his wife, the group's main vocalist and lyricist.

If you find yourself in Hollywood this weekend, the Memoir EP release show is Saturday at Couture. Meantime, you can stream the video for lead single "Look Away" below and download a copy of the EP on iTunes.
