Shocker! (Not): Ice Dogs season closes with another tight one

Posted by Doyle Woody, on May 7, 2013

Figured the Fairbanks Ice Dogs would either extend their season or see it end tonight in yet another close match.

Unfortunately for the Ice Dogs, the verdict was the latter. They lost 3-1 on an empty-net goal to the Wenatchee Wild in decisive Game 5 of the NAHL's West Division Finals.

Jacob Hetz opened the scoring for Fairbanks six minutes into the game, but that's all the Ice Dogs could muster.

Fairbanks played two best-of-5 series that went the limit, and all 10 games were thrillers. They played seven true one-goal games and the three others featured two-goal spreads courtesy of empty netters.

Wenatchee advanced to the league's Robertson Cup.
