 Alaska Miners Association to Celebrate Mining Day on May 10, 2013

Anchorage, AK - The Alaska Miners Association will host a special breakfast for members, media, and the public to celebrate the 1st Annual Mining Day in Anchorage. The breakfast will be held at the Petroleum Club of Anchorage at 7:30am on Friday, May 10, 2013 and is open to the public. RSVP required to  

 The event is sponsored by NANA Regional Corporation, Inc. and will include a presentation by Senator Cathy Giessel of SB1, an Act establishing Mining Day in Alaska.

 Governor Sean Parnell signed legislation establishing May 10 as Alaska Mining Day.

“Mining has created opportunities for Alaskan families for generations,” Governor Parnell said. “I am honored to sign this legislation to recognize the miners and the mining industry, which have greatly contributed to our state’s economy, and will continue to do so in the future.”

Senate Bill 1 was sponsored by Senator Cathy Giessel and supported by the Alaska Miners Association and the Council of Alaska Producers.
