Wine of the week: 2012 Porcupine Ridge

May 9, 2013

It always amazes me when people have not heard of South African sauvignon blanc, but shut the front door -- they make some of the best sauvignon blanc on the planet. The 2012 Porcupine Ridge proves the point for both quality and value. Sharp, sophisticated gooseberry is the theme. Fresh fragrant aromatics and juicy citrus prevail. You'll find none of that New Zealand grapefruit and grass here. Serve with summer sun, seafood and chicken. Costs about $12.
