Letter: Parnell’s ideas aren’t Hickel’s

May 10, 2013

It is ironic that Lt. Gov. Mead Treadwell wrote an op-ed in praise of Gov. Wally Hickel. It was Hickel, after all, who coined the term “Owner State” and pushed for public benefits from resource development.

In contrast, the Parnell-Treadwell administration’s top policy goal was to give away billions of dollars in oil wealth. If Wally Hickel hadn’t been buried standing upright, he would have rolled over when SB 21 passed.
