Letter: Be informed; don’t be conned

May 13, 2013

I was at the farmers market in Anchorage recently and was approached by a woman who had a voters petition she wanted me to sign. I asked concerning what? She wanted my signature for a tax on the oil companies. I asked her what the tax money was to be used for? She had no idea.

I informed her that corporations don’t pay taxes, they are passed on to us at the gas pump. She turned around and walked off. I guess I did not meet her agenda. Clearly this woman was clueless as to the ramifications of what she was doing.

Whatever anyone’s point of view is about oil companies, be informed and don’t let the blind con you in to something that you end up paying for in the long run.
