BUFFALO, N.Y. -- A polar bear cub that was orphaned and rescued by a hunter in Alaska in March has arrived in Buffalo, where he will have a playmate at the city's zoo.

Kali, accompanied by a group from the Alaska Zoo, arrived at the Buffalo airport shortly before 5:30 a.m. Wednesday on a UPS flight. Buffalo Zoo President Donna Fernandes was on hand to greet them.

In time, Kali will be introduced to the zoo's polar bear cub, Luna, a visitor favorite.

The Buffalo Zoo is in the final stages of fundraising for a new $18 million polar bear exhibit. Kali is expected to stay in Buffalo for about six months.
