Wine of the week: 2011 Milbrandt Vineyards Traditions Cabernet

May 16, 2013

The 2011 Milbrandt Vineyards Traditions Cabernet is so correct. I can't believe it. How did they do that? I guess the wine maker's going to keep his job. The nose has what I like to call "cabernet leaf," that particular mint herb thing that is the hallmark of good cabernet. Washington's 2011 was a white knuckle vintage for some, but the farming expertise of the Milbrandts kicked in and you can taste it. Not a huge wine, but it has all the parts and pieces necessary for wine-y gustatory satisfaction. It's a good weekday pour that over delivers for its price point. Costs about $15.
