Only two weeks are left to submit films to the 2013 Balto Film Fest.  Qualifying films will have been filmed in Alaska, have Alaskan cast/crew, or directed, produced or written by an Alaskan.  Official Selections will be shown during the Balto Film Fest in Seward the last weekend of July.  Awards will be given for Best Short and Best Feature, as determined by the Judge’s Panel and Audience Choice.

Deadline for Submissions is MONDAY, JUNE 16th.  Official Submission Form and a DVD/Blu Ray must be hand delivered to the Friends of Jesse Lee Home office at 302 Washington Street or postmarked by the same date to Post Office Box 737, Seward.

The 2013 Balto Film Fest will feature free workshops at the Library Friday night with industry experts and screenings of official selections on Saturday and Sunday at the UAF Rae Building.

The Balto 48 Hour Challenge  - where filmmakers use three prompts and make a film in Seward in a two day period – will be screened Sunday night.  A panel of members of the Alaska State Legislature will determine the winning film.

Jonathan Lang’s soulful fish story, Resurrection Bay was the 2012 winner of the Balto 48 Hour Challenge.  Jonathan owns Bearded John Productions, and filmed several of the films sequences at his mother, Sue Lang’s Bed & Breakfast off of Lowell Point.  All of last year’s entries are available on the Balto Film Fest’s website.
