Anchorage — The Anchorage Bucs and Anchorage Glacier Pilots split a doubleheader at Mulcahy Stadium and the Fairbanks Goldpanners survived Chugiak's ninth-inning rally Tuesday in the Alaska Baseball League.
The Pilots broke through with a 3-1 win in Tuesday's opener to halt a three-game slide against their rivals.
Micah Green led the Pilots to victory with a third-inning RBI single and a fifth-inning single that helped break a 1-1 tie. His hit in the fifth sent Lance Berringer to third base, and a double steal sent Berringer home and Green to second base. Green went on to score on a wild pitch.
The Bucs bounced back in the nightcap for their own 3-1 win. Four Pilots pitchers combined for a two-hitter, but one of the hits was Michael Strentz's two-run homer that lifted the Bucs a 3-0 lead in the first inning.
In Chugiak, the Chinooks scored once in the ninth inning but stranded two runners, allowing the Goldpanners to escape with a 5-4 win.
In a nonleague game in Kenai, the San Francisco Seals beat the Peninsula Oilers 2-0.
