Letter: Western states want to exploit

Anchorage Daily NewsJune 16, 2013

Re: “Western senators press Obama to block mine” (ADN June 10). What are we, a third world country to be exploited by powerful outside interests? Who’s state is this anyway that Washington, Oregon and California think they can dictate what we do here?

They’ve apparently depleted their waters of fishing resources and now depend on ours.

I’ll tell you what. If these three states as well as Japan and the numerous other poachers want to compensate Alaska and the Rio Tinto corporation and affiliates for current expenses, future profits and the hundreds of jobs to be created during the development and production of those resources related to the Pebble Prospect for the next 100 years, then OK, we’ll let you take our fish.
