Anchorage sports digest for Thursday, June 20

— More than 50 people and about a billion mosquitoes showed up Wednesday night for the Arctic Orienteering Club's race at Mirror Lake.

Ian Moore and Jen Jolliff were the fastest when it came to navigating through the ferocious clouds of mosquitoes. Moore set the pace on the difficult 7.4-kilometer, 16-control course, finishing in 1 hour, 10 minutes, 42 seconds. Jolliff topped the women in 1:47:24.

Red (7.4-K, 16 controls)

Men -- 1) Ian Moore, 1:10:42; 2) Kimball Forrest, 1:24:27; 3) Toby Schwoerer, 1:32:30; 4) Dan Billman, 1:43:00; 5) Regan Sarwas, 1:55:38. Women -- 1) Jen Jolliff, 1:47:24.

Green (5.6-K, 12 controls)

Men -- 1) Matthew Hansen, 1:19:54; 2) Eric Follett, 1:28:00; 3) Art Harmon, 1:30:38; 4) Brian Durrell, 1:36:10; 5) Tom Livingston, 1:52:40. Women -- 1) Ellyn Brown, 1:29:14; 2) Anne Billman, 1:41:30;. Team -- 1) Diana and Dave Evans, 1:11:20.

Orange (4.3-K, 14 controls)

Men -- 1) David Snyder, 1:48:24; 2) Dave Urban, 2:22:18. Women -- 1) Jill Follett, 1:17:45; 2) Joyce Goodell, 1:57:30.

Yellow (3.2-K, 12 controls)

Men -- 1) Keith Hall, 1:53:00. Women -- 1) Giselle Bergeron, 1:28:15. Team -- 1) Gearhart-Dekreon, 1:08:18; 2) Shaw family, 1:14:45; 3) Brower family 2:12:00.

White (1.9-K, 8 controls)

Men -- 1) Springer Moore, 37:40; 2) Steve Sandberg, 40:34. Women -- 1) Kathy Urban, 34:30. Team -- 1) Andrew-Jen Harmon, 47:00; 2) Jeff Stroke-Susie Terwilliger, 1:07:20.
